Build the skills to save lives. Our Lifesaving Society certified courses guide swimmers from Bronze Star through Bronze Cross — developing essential water safety and rescue skills.
The Pathway
CERTIFICATION
LEVELS
BRONZE STAR
The entry point to lifesaving certifications. Bronze Star teaches swimmers essential water rescue techniques, self-rescue skills, and foundational fitness swimming. Ideal for developing confident, safety-aware swimmers who have completed the Swim For Life program.

BRONZE MEDALLION
A nationally recognized award focusing on the four components of water rescue: judgment, knowledge, skill, and fitness. Swimmers learn companion rescue techniques, defensive swimming, and how to manage emergency situations in and around the water.

BRONZE CROSS
An advanced award that develops superior lifesaving skills and builds the fitness needed to become a lifeguard. Bronze Cross teaches swimmers to handle complex rescue situations, first aid integration, and advanced water rescue techniques.

Before You Start
ENTRY
REQUIREMENTS
Swim For Life Completion
Swimmers must have completed the Lifesaving Society Swim For Life program or demonstrate equivalent swimming ability to enroll in Bronze Star.
Age Requirements
Bronze Star: 10+. Bronze Medallion: 13+. Bronze Cross: 15+. Age at start of course.
Swim Proficiency Test
An assessment swim may be required before enrollment to confirm readiness for the certification level. Contact our office to arrange.
